The Future of the Sprawl

Hi guys,

lets face it, the good times are gone. Our gameservers are mostly empty, TS is not really used and we fall short on members.

We have several options:

a) we let the sprawl die
b) we try to get back on track

So what will it be?

The gameservers cost me atm 40€ every month so I would like to see that money well spent.

So do me a favour and start trying to get our people back onto this site (I will write something up on how to register for the Groups etc) and try to get some more people involved.

Keep in mind we not only play Dystopia, a lot of us play other games too... try to get them into Dystopia or TF2 too.. perhaps we can build a group of people who is fun to play with again.

We could probably also Clan in TF2 but this will require a lot more people so I guess in this area we will stay at the organised fun level.

I'm trying to setup a mumble server (a little bit more complicated as I have to compile from source) to run next / replace the TS server.

Other things to come:

I will close down the gameservers when I see that there is no real need anymore, atm I have targeted the 1st of November, this doesn't mean that you now all need to play only on the TSG servers, but it would be cool if they would become more populated again and it would be cool if some people would chip in into the costs.

I don't want to give the wrong impression... I'm fully behind TSG / TSC being there in the future, but I will also be not the only guy anymore backing everything.

So let me know, get our members back in and bring back the fun we had when we started TSG / TSC.

yeah it would be.. just checked.. I pay 79€ per month atm.. for 4 gameservers true but overkill still... I'm looking for some options..

It's still in german. Hmh. Anyways, what servers do you keep? Two Dystopia and two TF2 server?

Edit: Agh, it shows at the main page. So two dys, one TF2 and that teamspeak server.

I noticed what you mean.. it gets directed to a german paypal page.. will check that. Hmm... the problem is paypal.. it will switch to a german page for whatever reason.. I have to figure that out.

I'm in talk with somebody about our gameserver hosting... but I would say we cut down to the stuff we really need.. which would be one Dystopia Server..

ok... so for the time being..

we will loose our server in the long run = 1 month or 2 month.. somewhere in there.

Atomy (LOSD) has stepped in and gives us access to the LOSD War server for our scrims and matches and gives some of us (decided by me and Alucard) admin / rcon access.

I will let you know when I will switch off the server permanently and give you some more details.

If you guys want to get the infrastructure back we have atm (own server, admin, reserved slots, etc) we will have to start collecting money and look for something different.

If somebody of you guys want to do that feel free to start a NEW thread about it.

ok, switch off date is the 27th of August.. make the best out of it... 2 more MFP to come. Don't know how many matches / scrims
